Battle of the Blow Flies….The Mortein and I are Winning.

I’ve been waging a battle with blow flies today. A couple of warm days in a row and out they come. I’ve killed 5 already and it beats me how they’re getting inside. Mind you…..I do have a rather delicious smelling curry gently bubbling away in the crock pot, so that’s probably what’s attracting them.

That’s a bit sad……only blow flies are attracted to my cooking. As you know, my cooking is the butt of many jokes by the kippers but I can proudly say that  someone or at least something finds my cooking appealing.

The necklace below has been sitting on my desk for a few weeks because I just wasn’t able to give it a kick. It was bland and blah and dull. I loved the polymer clay toggle I made and the resin shell bead that I wire wrapped to the filigree flower. And the freshwater pearls I liked, but the whole thing was too much the same colour. Then the colour guru came for a visit, namely Carmen. Within minutes she had picked out just the right colour beads to give it a lift. Sea foam green facetted amazonite beads wired between mother of pearl ones. Thanks Carmen, you’re the best!

Silver flower

Another poly flower pendant.

P1020602-1

This one is silver clay with a pearl glaze over the top.

P1020599-1

With a chunky matt black chain. It’s a fairly large pendant about 4.5 cm (1.75”).

P1020601-1

Lori from Pretty Things wrote a very interesting post about blogging a few days ago and then asked for comments asking  people their likes and dislikes when it came to reading blogs. Lots of varied answers and I added my two bob’s worth. Most blogs I love to read, I love lots of pictures but my one pet peeve is a blog with a black background and white writing. I find them very hard on my eyes to read and usually bypass them.

What are your likes and dislikes if any?

Some New Pieces…and Parcels From the US

I’m loving this one and I’m very tempted to keep it. Although it’s very long, the flower sits about waist level and I might look a bit “mutton dressed up as lamb” wearing it.

P1020583-1

Polymer clay flower pendant in pearl with a black glaze over the top…..noice!

P1020585-1

I’ve gone all hearts and flowers of late. Made so many heart pendants in all sorts of embossed patterns, colours and finishes.

P1020586-1

Embossed this black heart and then glazed with a pearly finish.

P1020587-1

Simplicity at it’s best.

P1020588-1

Black matt chain and lobster clasp with a chandelier crystal bracelet. I may just add a dangle of some sort near the clasp to add a bit of weight so the crystal stays centred.

P1020589-1

Grey Polymer clay earrings hand stamped with a floral design. Hard to tell in the photo but the clay is a dark grey.

P1020590-1

These I just love. These fabulous beauties unfortunately cannot be claimed to have been made by me. Tish my friend and constant cheer leader from the US sent them to me. How amazing is her wire work I ask you. And the earrings….well I’ve worn them a lot and had such fabulous comments about them. And I have great plans for the pendant, and no you can’t have it…..I’m keeping it!

So another week has almost flown by, crumbs….it’ll be Christmas before we know it. Now there’s a scary thought.

Market day on Saturday, Angove Street, North Perth, 8 am – 1 pm, the girls have ranunculas on special and I’ve got a few new pieces to showcase.

An EMO and a Vampire

The Kippers went to a fancy dress party last week. Brighita as a vampire minus the fangs…..they kept falling out and Michael as an EMO.

Here’s Brighita applying Mike’s eye makeup. She used waterproof  makeup so of course when he got home and went straight to bed without taking his eye makeup off……well we all know you end up with panda eyes P1020563-1

The black nail polish is very fetching don’t you think?P1020564-1 Here they are all ready to head off into the evening, one to bite peoples necks and the other to be “all miserable” and “woe is me” and “I’m an emotional wreck”.P1020568-1

Some of my new pieces ready for market on Saturday.

Market Poly Clay

Sunday I had a fabulous clay class with Pam Annesley. You might remember I did a Precious Metal Clay class with her awhile ago when she was living in Bindoon. Well now she’s moved a bit closer and is living in  Two Rocks so I’ve booked 5 more polymer clay classes with her. Such a lovely lady and very patient and so knowledgeable when it comes to clay. I’m sure she will be able to divest me of any bad habits I’ve picked up whilst trying to teach myself. Next class Pam will try and teach me all about canes. They look so complicated and intricate but I’m looking forward to the class.

Do You Like Giveaways.........

…..then go here and visit Tish ‘cos she’s having one and while you’re there take a look here to see Tish modelling the necklace she bought from me. Doesn't she look saucey?

Since writing this a couple of hours ago I've just come across another fantastic giveaway. Cindy from Lampwork Diva is having a terrific  giveaway also, gorgeous lampwork beads to be won. Go now....leave a comment...you could win....but I hope I do.

Also about a month ago I was in a jewelry swap with 4 other ladies. I was lucky enough to have Kelly from Beadativity make the most amazing beaded necklace for me. She was very thorough in her approach to find out some things about me and comprised a set of questions for me to answer. Unfortunately I can’t show a picture of the necklace as my camera card has gone kaput but Kelly has photos on her blog and the answers to my interview questions. I'm just so astounded that Kelly works with such tiny beads and they way she blended the colours is gorgeous. Go and have a look.

Saturdays market day was great. Sold quite a few pieces, more than the week before which was good. A lovely lady who bought a necklace and some earrings from me (the grey one in the post below) unfortunately left one of her own earrings behind. So I hope she's reading my blog and will know that I have it safe and sound in my possession and I'll bring it along next Saturday.

Ok, the oven bell has gone off so I'd better check my tray of polymer clay pendants and make sure nothing has burned.

And I think this is the first post that I have done without a photo or 5 amongst the writing. Feels weird....I have to put one in....something random.

Random necklace.

Some Pretties

Some new pieces to sell at the market tomorrow.

P1020549-1

They are all polymer clay pendants with faux ceramic finish. This one with black facetted Rutile Quartz beads with a hint of sparkle, wired together. I really love the way this pendant turned out.

P1020550-1

Sold

This one is has a chocolate brown finish to the pendant with chalcedony beads in a dusty pink. I used bronze wire and some tiny wooden beads and wired it all together.

P1020553-1

The colour combo is very subtle and serene.

P1020554-1

Blue pendant with blue sodalite beads.

P1020557-1

I’ve used some pretty almost lace like connectors between the beads.

P1020558-1

Now I’m back to grunge  with some heavy metal rock chic, come biker chic look and feel. If they turn out how I hope they will I’ll post photos over the next day or so.

It’s the weekend………enjoy!

Flowers on Angove….and Me

How lucky am I. I’ve been given the opportunity to set up a little market stall with the gorgeous girls from Flowers on Angove in North Perth on  Saturday mornings. Such a great location on the corner of Angove and Woodville Streets.

Cecile and Tam were so generous and helpful, lending me a blackboard to write my sign on and shifting me around to a better spot to take advantage of the passing trade and there’s lots of passersby. Couples strolling by with fresh baguettes tucked under their arms and fluffy dogs on leashes.

Lots of coffee shops in the area with a supermarket and several lovely arty crafty stores to browse in.

P1020540-1

The girls, Cecile on the left Tam on the right do a roaring trade with their flowers. As the sign says they are farm fresh and a fantastic price.

P1020545-1

Here’s moi in front of my little table with my wares on display. Gorgeous Joanie came down to give me moral support and a helping hand and I didn’t get photo of her. Next time.

P1020546-1

I did reasonably well for my first day and sold several pieces. My third customer was a bloke!

P1020548-1

So next Saturday come on down to Angove Street North Perth, have a coffee, buy fresh crusty bread, treat yourself to a beautiful bunch of flowers and stop by and say hi to me. You never know I may just have that special necklace, bracelet or earrings your looking for. In fact I’m sure I do!
